Don’t Rush to Crush

Don’t Rush to Crush (DRTC) is an Australian reference that provides guidance on safely administering oral medicines to people with swallowing difficulties or those requiring enteral feeding tubes. It includes recommendations on whether medicines can be crushed, dispersed or opened, and presents evidence based advice informed by extensive Australian dispersion testing and oral liquid thickness assessments. The resource covers 600+ medicines and is available through a  stand-alone webpage (on the Therapeutic Guidelines platform). Updates to monographs are released quarterly.
